If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and as Blackburn Rovers, Peterborough United & Sheffield Wednesday all delivered three-goal games for me in midweek, I’m backing them to repeat against Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers & Bolton Wanderers respectively.
Between the six of them they have over 100 total league goals in their games so far this season and it’s 101/25 for them to all continue delivering games of over 2.5 goals.
Over 2.5 goals in Blackburn v Middlesbrough @ 18/25
The Steve Kean promotion template appears to have been set as a win in another three-goal game midweek kept them top and built on their five-goal show at Bristol City.
Having a pair of international strikers in Jordan Rhodes and Nuno Gomes (who’ve both scored in the last two games) can’t hurt and neither will the visit of newly generous Boro.
After delivering the least over 2.5 goal games in last season’s Championship, Tony Mowbray’s men have been involved in three-plus goal thrillers in over 70% of their games this term.
Over 2.5 goals in Peterborough v Wolves @ 3/5
Posh have become a magnet for +2.5 goal hunters this term but not for the reasons they’d like.
A 2-1 home loss to Bristol City (their sixth straight defeat) keeps them nailed to the bottom of the table and the visit of relegated Wolves is unlikely to provide any respite.
Despite the loss of Steven Fletcher, Wanderers still possess, in Sylvain Ebanks-Blake and Kevin Doyle, two forwards with over 50 Championship goals who will be confident of adding to that against the league’s leakiest defence.
Over 2.5 goals in Sheffield Wednesday v Bolton @ 83/100
Wednesday’s results have become impossible to predict as they fluctuate between 3-2 wins and 3-1 defeats but they have definitely delivered goals along the way.
Frustratingly for Owen Coyle, Bolton have been equally inconsistent with two wins, a draw and three defeats.
But with the manager’s back against the wall he will expect his impressive squad (featuring internationals like Martin Petrov, Kevin Davies & Lee Chung-Yong) to deliver the goals against a side who shipped three in midweek.
