It seems as though Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Leeds United have been listening to ‘The Best of Fat Les’ (it is a cracking album, after all), as they’ve climbed the table under the mantra “we’re gonna score one more than you”.
All three are seemingly mounting Championship promotion challenges on the back of high-scoring wins, with over 50 goals combined helping the trio to earn 27 points between them over the past five games.
Inviting home games against Burnley, Charlton and Barnsley respectively, who’ve conceded road goals at an average of over two per game, offer a great chance for both their scoring and winning runs to continue.

Over 2.5 goals in Crystal Palace v Burnley @ 4/5
Despite pessimistic pre-season predictions, Palace are thriving this term and have established themselves as one of the Championship’s form teams by going six unbeaten and climbing to seventh in the table.
Highlights of that run have included entertaining an 3-2 victory against Cardiff and the midweek 2-1 win at Wolves and will welcome the visit of a Burnley side whose last five games have featured 23 goals.
So while a high-scoring game is likely, Palace will need to try keep 11-goal Championship top scorer Charlie Austin in check to turn those goals into three points.
Over 2.5 goals in Blackpool v Charlton @ 13/20
After disappointing back-to-back defeats against Huddersfield and Cardiff, former Championship leaders Blackpool returned to form with a midweek 3-2 win at Hull.
To be honest, win, lose or draw, matches featuring Ian Holloway’s team are always entertaining, with the 31 combined goals seen in their games a league-high at present.
The likes of free-scoring Thomas Ince and the evergreen Kevin Phillips should ensure they keep that average up against a Charlton side who’ve won just once away so far on their return to the Championship.
Over 2.5 goals in Leeds v Barnsley @ 13/20
As I mentioned in my full match preview [click here to read], while many local derbies are tight and tense, the visit of the Tykes to Elland Road has all the ingredients to be a thriller.
Both teams have played nine league matches and a total of 59 goals have been scored across those fixtures at an average of 3.3 per game.
Last season’s 4-1 win by Barnsley at Oakwell marked the tenth match in row where the two sides have shared three goals or more in a game and with Luciano Becchio and Craig Davies among the country’s hottest marksmen, that run seems certain to continue.
