If you’re looking for goals this weekend, get down to Fratton Park for Portsmouth’s clash with Hull City.
Admittedly, the Tigers’ matches have not exactly been full of excitement of late, as their last eight Championship matches have all featured under 2.5 goals.
However, that run must end at some point and a look at the history books shows that the last six meetings between Pompey and Hull on the south coast have all contained at least four goals. A bet on that to happen again is priced at a very tempting 13/5.
As for the victor on the day? Surprisingly given their sixth-placed position in the league, Hull are outsiders at odds of 19/10 to score a win which would make it ten points from a possible 12 following victories over Reading and Peterborough and Tuesday’s draw with Doncaster Rovers.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, are also on a decent run. They have scored seven in their last four Championship matches, including a convincing 3-0 away win last week at Peterborough.

At home they have been strong as well, narrowly losing to league leaders West Ham and beating Watford 2-0 in the game before that. The home side are 7/5 favourites to win and a draw is 21/10.
Portsmouth look even more likely to win when you consider Hull’s recent away troubles – Nick Barmby’s men have gone five games without scoring more than one goal. That raises not only the probability of a home win, but also the chance of a second consecutive Pompey clean sheet at 39/20.
The last two meetings between these sides at Fratton Park have ended 3-2, once in favour of the residents and once in favour of Hull.
Odds of 30/1 are given for a home 3-2 success this weekend, while Hull to win 3-2 is priced at 33/1 – new customers to bwin.com who use their free £25 bet for joining on this latter scoreline will receive a whopping £850 if it does come off.
These two met in September and Hull were 1-0 winners that day. They are priced at 15/2 to win this fixture by the same scoreline, but taking the offer of 13/5 on four or more goals could well turn out to be the best play.
