It is not difficult to work out why Leicester are odds-on to beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate, with a combination of the Robins’ dire form and the Foxes’ impressive recent run of results making three points for the away side extremely likely.
Derek McInnes’ men have lost six of their last seven games and have not won a game since January 21st – and that was against bottom-of-the-table Doncaster.
In all, Bristol City have picked up just seven points from a possible 30 in 2012, despite signing off 2011 with a 1-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s.
Leicester, meanwhile, are starting to build up steam as the season comes to a climax and have won three of their last four games, including an impressive 2-1 away win over Norwich in the FA Cup.
The Foxes have the league’s fifth-best first half record on their travels, and ten of their last 11 strikes on the road have been scored in the opening 45 minutes.
As a result, Bristol City are 27/10 shots to pick up all three points in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with the draw at 12/5 and a Leicester victory at 19/20.
In addition to being third-bottom in the form table based on the last six matches – not to mention fourth-bottom of the league – the Robins also have the unenviable record of being the worst team in the second half of games in the entire division, largely because of a leaky defence.
Bristol City have conceded more goals after half time than any other team at an average of 1.15 a match.
They have been particularly bad in this respect in the last month, with 12 goals conceded in the second half of their last six matches.
In all, there have been 13 goals scored after the interval during this run, with five of the last six featuring at least two strikes in the second period.
This points to at least two goals being scored after the break this evening at odds of 11/10, meaning this bet pays out more than a punt on a Leicester victory.
So, too, does a bet on Leicester to be winning at half time and full time at 37/20.
Although goals look to be on the cards in the second half of the game at Ashton Gate given Bristol City’s defensive vulnerability, Leicester are more likely to score before the break than they are after the interval, particularly away from home.
Indeed, they have the Championship’s fifth-best first half record on their travels, and ten of their last 11 strikes on the road have been scored in the opening 45 minutes.
With this in mind, Leicester look good bets to establish a lead before half time and then exploit Bristol City’s second half deficiencies to secure the win.
And at those odds of 37/20, punters using bwin’s £25 free bet on Leicester to be winning at half time and full time stand to win £71.25 if the tip proves successful.
