Two teams struggling for form consistency meet in the Championship this weekend as lowly Coventry City host mid-table Barnsley.
Both teams have managed only six points apiece from their last six games and will be looking to take a valuable win from their latest encounter at the Ricoh Arena.
Coventry are priced as narrow 27/20 favourites in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, while a Barnsley win can be had at 19/10 and a draw is available at 9/4.
The Sky Blues have completely relied on their home form to keep them afloat this season, as they are the only team in all four divisions in England who are yet to register an away win.
However, six wins in 16 matches in front of their own fans is hardly a stellar record either, so it’s not surprising that they are currently 23rd in the table.
If games finished at half-time, Barnsley would be in the play-offs, rather than their current position of 14th.
Better news for boss Andy Thorn and his troops is that in previous years they have generally enjoyed playing Barnsley.
In the last 14 meetings between the sides, Coventry have only failed to score once, which occurred earlier this season when they were beaten 2-0 at Oakwell.
Even though Coventry have one of the worst attacks in the league, look for them to at least grab a goal in this encounter at 1/4 if you are a seeking a short-priced selection for some heavy investment.
For their part, Keith Hill’s men have been the measuring stick for inconsistency this season. They have managed to pull off stunning wins against Leeds (twice) and away at Reading, but then have lost to teams like Millwall and Watford.
Adding to this is the fact that, if games finished at half-time, Barnsley would be in the play-offs, rather than their current position of 14th.
With that in mind, go for Barnsley to be leading yet again at half-time but for them to stumble in the second half and only take a point home.
Punters receive a free £25 bet for joining bwin.com and placing that on Barnsley/Draw in the half-time/full-time market – which is priced at a very tempting 13/1 – would bring returns of £350 if successful.
That should be enough incentive to potentially spice up what could well be quite a dull affair in the Midlands on Saturday.
