Nine points and 12 positions separate sixth-placed Leeds and their next opponents Millwall going into their match at Elland Road on Saturday, although both teams have picked up the same number of points from their last six games.
A single win in their first 12 games left Millwall marooned in the relegation zone but four wins since then has seen them to move up to 17th position.
The Whites have the best second half record in the league, while Millwall have only won the second half on five occasions so far this season.
However, the Lions’ recovery has much to do with their performances at the Den, with their away form leaving significant room for improvement.
One win and three draws from nine games on their travels gives them the fourth-worst away record in the division, pointing to a Leeds win at the weekend at odds of 11/10.
However, the Whites have not won on their own ground since a 1-0 win over Portsmouth on 1st October, with their results at home since their most recent success including a 5-0 defeat to Blackpool and a 2-1 loss to Barnsley.
As such, there could yet be value in a draw in bwin’s 3Way football betting market (23/10) along with a Millwall success at the same price.
Nevertheless, Leeds’ 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in midweek suggests Simon Grayson’s men are ready to put their sub-standard Elland Road record behind them and pick up three points at home, with Millwall’s poor form on their travels giving the Whites the perfect opportunity to do so.
A successful £25 free bet on Leeds to beat Millwall on Saturday would return £52.50, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
But even if Leeds don’t win the match, they are more than likely to win the second half at odds of 29/20.
The Whites have the best second half record in the Championship, while Millwall have only won the second half on five occasions so far this season.
One final bet to consider would be on there being more goals in the second half than there are in the first.
Both teams have scored 60 per cent of their goals after the interval, while 63 per cent of the goals let in by Millwall have been conceded in the second 45 minutes of games.
