In another exciting round of Bundesliga fixtures, Stuttgart could be good for two goals, while Freiburg could face more 1-0 pain, there could be another second-half win for Schalke 04 and it’s a case of playing by numbers for Cologne and Hertha Berlin.
This week’s round-up features a glut of goalscorer predictions too with Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski, Leverkusen’s Stefan Keissling, Hoffenheim’s Vedad Ibisevic and the man of the moment Mario Gomez offering big money wins for those willing to take a chance.
Friday, 4th November
FSV Mainz 05 v VfB Stuttgart (7.30pm)
Home win: 31/20 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 8/5
Betting tip: Mainz’s poor start to the season continued last week with a 3-1 home defeat by Bremen. The result means that Mainz have conceded an average of two goals per game at home this season and goes some way to explaining their lowly league position. A match against VfB Stuttgart could therefore provide a great betting opportunity, with odds of 14/5 on Stuttgart to score exactly two goals. Considering that the visitors have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three away games, this could prove the ideal tip for new registrants taking advantage of bwin’s free £25 bet. A successful wager on the outcome using the £25 free bet would return £95.
Saturday, 5th November
Borussia Dortmund v VfL Wolfsburg (2.30pm)
Home win: 33/100 Draw: 4/1 Away win: 15/2
Betting tip: Wolfsburg have been in poor form of late and continue to leak goals, particularly on the road, where their last three Bundesliga games have produced seven goals in the against column for the Greens. Prospects do not look good for a trip to Dortmund, where the hosts have started to reach the kind of imperious form that saw them storm to the title last year. Some of that revival has been down to a return to form for Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski. The 23-year old has notched up an impressive five goals in his last two games at the Westfalenstadion and with odds of 11/2 available on Lewandowski scoring two or more against Wolfsburg, there has never been a better time to back the Pole.
Nuremburg v SC Freiburg (2.30pm)
Home win: 3/4 Draw: 27/20 Away win: 17/5
Betting tip: Nuremburg will be keen to eradicate memories of the defensive horror show they starred in against Bayern Munich last weekend and the visit of bottom club Freiburg could prove the ideal opportunity. With the goals drying up for Papiss Demba Cisse, the visitors have scored just one in their last four Bundesliga games. During that time, they have lost 1-0 on three separate occasions. You can get generous odds of 27/4 on Nuremburg making it four occasions with a 1-0 win over Freiburg this Saturday.
Hoffenheim v Kaiserslautern (2.30pm)
Home win: 67/100 Draw: 13/5 Away win: 17/4
Betting tip: Hoffenheim may remain frustratingly inconsistent in the Bundesliga this season, but striker Vedad Ibisevic looks to be regaining some of the goalscoring consistency that once saw him linked with big money moves across Europe. The Bosnian has scored in Hoffenheim’s last two games and odds of 6/1 on him grabbing the opener against Kaiserslautern look tempting. Particularly as Ibisevic has scored four in his last four games against the visitors.
Hertha BSC v Borussia Monchengladbach (2.30pm)
Home win: 6/5 Draw: 21/5 Away win: 21/10
Betting tip: Goals have proven hard to come by for Borussia Monchengladbach away from home, with the visitors scoring just once in their last three games on the road. Hertha Berlin meanwhile have won two of their last three at home scoring six goals in the process. Hertha are best placed for the win here, but with the combined threat of goals from both teams, a sensible tip is to back the Berliners to win with under 3.5 combined goals scored in the game at 39/20.
Werder Bremen v Cologne (2.30pm)
Home win: 12/25 Draw: 333/100 Away win: 21/4
Betting tip: There’s no denying that Werder Bremen’s problems continue to stem from an inability to keep a clean sheet. It’s been six games since Bremen kept a clean sheet in the Bundesliga, with nine goals conceded and even the likes of strugglers like Augsburg and Mainz finding the net. The arrival of Cologne could spell trouble, with Lukas Podolski’s team scoring eleven during the same period, including a 4-1 away demolition of Bayer Leverkusen. You can get odds of 11/5 on Cologne scoring over 1.5 goals this weekend and it’s certainly worth a punt.
Bayer Leverkusen v Hamburg (5.30pm)
Home win: 67/100 Draw: 14/5 Away win: 15/4
Betting tip: Stefan Keissling may not have been in the goals for Leverkusen of late, but games against Hamburg have proven to be a fertile stomping ground for the striker. Keissling has scored three goals in his last three games against Hamburg. With the visitors proving slow off the mark in recent games, having gone a goal down in three of their last four Bundesliga fixtures, the stage is set for Keissling to become Leverkusen’s first goalscorer hero with odds of 5/1 available.
Sunday November 6th
Hannover 96 v Schalke 04 (2.30pm)
Home win: 33/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 31/20
Betting tip: If only the goals scored in the second half of games counted this season, chances are Schalke 04 would be riding even higher in the Bundesliga. The Gelsenkirchen club have made second half goals something of a habit in recent games with eight of the eleven goals they have scored in their last five Bundesliga games coming in the second period. All of which makes bwin’s offer of 9/5 on Schalke 04 to win the second half an intriguing prospect.
Augsburg v Bayern Munich (5.30pm)
Home win: 25/2 Draw: 23/4 Away win: 9/50
Betting tip: Given his current form in both the Bundesliga and Champions League, Mario Gomez remains the man of the moment and the one to watch for all bets concerning Bayern this weekend. Five goals in his last two games are likely to have left Gomez high on confidence, particularly with his mid-week hat-trick against top Serie A side Napoli still fresh in the memory. With decent odds on Bayern scoring a bucket load of goals hard to come by, 9/4 on Gomez to score two or more against second from bottom Augsburg looks a wise tip.
