Bayern Munich are the 11/20 favourites to win the Bundesliga in bwin’s football betting market despite a disappointing third-place finish last season.
In a season of turmoil for the 22-times German league champions, Bayern finished ten points behind Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund and three points adrift of third-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite this, the Bavarian giants look the best bets to secure title number 23 in the 2011-12 season.
A successful £25 free bet on Bayern Munich to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £38.75.
With odds of 5/1, reigning champions Dortmund are second-favourites in the title betting market, while Leverkusen are third-favourites with odds of 9/1.
Confidence in Bayern Munich will derive from the strengthening of the team over the summer, with former Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer and highly-rated English prospect Dale Jennings having already been brought in to the Allianz Arena.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Jerome Boateng and Chelsea’s Alex have been targeted as defensive reinforcements.
On the other hand, Dortmund have been weakened by the loss of Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid.
With this in mind, Bayern star Thomas Muller is in no doubt as to who has the best shot of winning the Bundesliga this season.
“Of course we know Borussia Dortmund will be a serious competitor in the battle for the championship,” he told Bild.
“But I am happy with our transfer policy and I am sure we will bring the trophy back to Munich in the upcoming season. It is proof of the quality of the squad that half the players in the national team will play for us. It is also an advantage for Germany that we can play together at Bayern.”
