Chelsea vs Juventus: Another cagey contest on the cards

Kick-off: 2000, 23/11/2021

Stadium: Stamford Bridge

TV: BT Sport

Chelsea only need a point to reach the last 16 of the Champions League but will hope for more when they host Juventus.

The Italian side are already guaranteed a place in the knockout stage and that can play into the hands of the Londoners.

The Blues are hard to break down and have only conceded one goal in this season’s Champions League so a home win to nil at 2.75 is our opening Chelsea vs Juventus prediction.

Chelsea Odds

Chelsea and Juventus were expected to dominate Group H and so it has proved, with neither having yet dropped a point against Zenit St Petersburg and Malmo.

Juventus lead the way with four wins from four thanks to a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture in September when Federico Chiesa scored the only goal just 11 seconds into the second half.

Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz failed to hit the target with fine late chances but it was a game of few opportunities.

Another cagey contest is expected here and the pressure is on Chelsea to push for the win which would give them hope of snatching top spot in the group.

That could prove important when the draw for the knockout stage is made and clean sheets have been the backbone of the team’s success under Thomas Tuchel.

Whether they have the quality to break down the Juventus defence is another matter, especially in the absence of star striker Lukaku.

Under 1.5 goals paid out in the first game and can be backed again in the 3.10.

Juventus Odds

Juventus lost their grip on the Serie A title last season and already look out of contention this season.

They have been trying to play catch-up ever since they failed to win any of their first four matches and surprise back-to-back defeats against Sassuolo and Verona last month saw them lose more ground on the leading pack.

Juve will be desperate to at least get back in the race for a top-four place and the Stamford Bridge clash is sandwiched between a trip to Lazio and a home game against Atalanta.

With progress to the last 16 assured, it would be understandable if this game is not their main focus this week and the timing of the fixture could help Chelsea.

For the last of our Chelsea vs Juventus betting tips, let’s back the Blues to get revenge for their defeat in Italy with a 1-0 win at 6.50.
