Former striker Kevin Davies on Chesterfield’s relegation fight

Kevin Davies was part of the Chesterfield team which progressed to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1997. After impressing during a short stint at Southampton, Blackburn splashed out a then-club record £7.5million for his services in 1998. Davies returned to Saints a year later and, following a brief loan spell at Millwall, joined Bolton, where he spent 10 years, scoring 84 times in 407 appearances. Davies’ last team was Preston, retiring in 2015, and he also won one cap for England at the age of 33 – as a substitute against Montenegro in 2010.

With Chesterfield fighting against relegation from League One and Bolton gunning for promotion back to the Championship, we caught up with Davies to discuss his former clubs’ chances and well as getting his thoughts on some topical issues in the game.
