England U21s go into their friendly match with Israel U21s in buoyant mood following a crushing victory last Thursday.
Stuart Peace’s side recorded a 6-0 victory against Azerbaijan in Milton Keynes in their Group Eight U21 Euro Qualification encounter and sit top of the table after their first game.
As such, they are short 7/25 favourites to beat their opponents at Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium this evening, with a draw priced at 18/5 and an Israel win at 8/1.
Israel’s chances of getting anything from the match are not only hampered by England’s ruthless despatching of Azerbaijan but by their own poor form.
Winless in their last six, Israel have lost successive games against Serbia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Holland on the back of draws against Albania and Romania.
Worryingly, they have failed to hit the back of the net in their last four matches, meaning odds of 91/100 on at least one team not scoring this evening look tempting.
Given England’s last result, the Young Lions will also fancy their chances of scoring more than three goals, especially as they are up against a defence which conceded three against Ukraine.
With this in mind, odds of 5/4 are available on there to be more than 3.5 goals in the match, with a successful £25 free bet on this outcome set to return £56.25.

Having said that, Israel should not automatically be discounted, with England’s recent form not being as encouraging as their 6-0 success would suggest.
Including the Azerbaijan victory, England have won just three of their last ten matches.
Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson – captain against Azerbaijan – has been allowed to return to parent club Liverpool to help the Reds prepare for their forthcoming Premier League fixture against Stoke, while Chelsea’s Josh McEachran has been ruled out through injury.
Those who think the Israelis can cause an upset and emerge from the encounter unbeaten can get 39/20 on the game to end in a draw or away victory in bwin’s double chance market.
That said, the smart money remains on an England victory, and a big one at that.
