France’s impressive defensive record means they are well-placed to achieve at least the point they need to secure top spot in Group D at the expense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, their opponents at the Stade de France this evening.
Laurent Blanc’s side have conceded just three times in nine group matches, making them the second-best defensive side involved in the Euro 2012 qualifying process.
And with six clean sheets kept in their last nine qualification matches, the French will be confident of keeping out a Bosnia and Herzegovina team who have failed to find the back of the net in two of their last three away games.
With this in mind, a bet on Bosnia and Herzegovina failing to score looks appealing at 91/100.
Yet while they have been defensively sound, France have not been prolific in front of goal themselves, with just two of their nine matches containing more than 2.5 goals.
Presumably, this is why under 2.5 goals in the match is odds-on at 3/4.
However, money can still be made from this statistic if it is combined with a France win.
Victory for Les Blues in a match which contains less than three goals is available at odds of 3/2, which means a successful £25 free bet on the outcome would return £62.50.

And the tip looks a good one when France’s home advantage and superior record over Bosnia and Herzegovina is taken into account.
A 3-0 home win over Albania last month showed what Blanc’s men are capable of, and wins over Bosnia and Herzegovina in each of their last two meetings will give France confidence.
It is therefore no surprise that France go into the match as 1/2 favourites in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with a draw at 3/1 and away success at 11/2.
Finally, a safe bet would appear to be on Bosnia and Herzegovina to receive more yellow cards in the match than France given they have been shown more than twice as many in the qualification campaign then their hosts this evening.
This bet is available at odds of 3/5.
