Scotland will be looking to get over the heartbreak of conceding a last-minute equaliser to the Czech Republic at Hampden on Saturday when they take on Lithuania in another home match.
Craig Levein’s side looked to have grabbed a vital three points to give their Euro 2012 qualification hopes a much-needed shot in the arm before Michal Kadlec converted a controversial penalty.
The resulting 2-2 scoreline has left Scotland’s chances of making it to Poland and Ukraine hanging on a thread, with an away win against reigning World and European champions Spain likely to be needed for them to clinch second spot.
Before that, Scotland will need to overcome Lithuania at Hampden Park although, unlike in the Spain game scheduled for 11th October, they go into the match as favourites.
Scotland are priced at 11/20 for the win in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with a draw at 14/5 and a Lithuania victory at 12/4.
Their cause is helped by Lithuania’s poor recent away record which has seen the eastern Europeans lose their last four on the road and fail to score in each of the last three matches in this run.
Meanwhile, Scotland have scored at least twice in each of their last five matches on home soil, including against Spain last October.
With this in mind, backing Scotland to score more than 1.5 goals in the match at 83/100 looks like a safe option, even allowing for the suspension of Kenny Miller which leaves David Goodwillie as the only recognised striker available to Levein.
Alternatively, punters could back Scotland to keep a clean sheet at 17/20.
At these odds, returns of £46.25 could be made using the £25 free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
However, the best bet could be on Scotland to be winning at half time and full time, as they were in each of their last four home matches.
This bet is available at odds of 13/10, meaning a successful £10 stake will return £23.
