England’s qualification campaign might be over but a number of teams still have plenty to play for. Bwinbetting.com runs through the games which can still have an impact on the Euro 2012 qualification process.
Germany already have the group sewn up courtesy of a 100 per cent winning record, while Belgium are one point ahead of Turkey in second. As Turkey have the superior head-to-head record against Belgium, Georges Leekens’ men, who are away to the group winners, need to match or better Turkey’s result against Azerbaijan to secure a play-off place. But with Germany keen to make it ten victories in a row, Turkey look the best placed to make it through despite having fewer points on the board.
Russia can clinch top spot with a win or draw and given their match is against group whipping boys Andorra this is something of a no-brainer. This leaves Ireland v Armenia as a shoot-out for second, with Ireland in pole position given they go into the game with home advantage and a one-point cushion over their rivals in the Group B table.
Italy are confirmed as group winners and Serbia can clinch second spot with a win over Slovenia. A draw or defeat will see Estonia, who have already completed their qualification programme, progress to the play-offs.
France and Bosnia and Herzegovina have locked out the top two places in Group D and their match at the Stade de France will decide who finishes first and second. The home side have a one-point advantage and will be confident of securing at least the point they need to progress to the Euro 2012 finals automatically.
The Netherlands have qualified automatically and Sweden are assured of second place, but a win against the Dutch would see them finish as best runners-up and clinch qualification without having to go through the play-offs. However, Holland’s perfect qualification record so far suggests a Sweden victory is far from assured.
Greece need to draw or win in Georgia to secure top spot and leave Croatia in second, while a defeat would open the door to Slaven Bilic’s men should Croatia win against Latvia. Croatia could also finish as best runners-up if results go their way elsewhere.
England are assured of first place and Montenegro second after they drew 2-2 on Friday and Switzerland lost to Wales.
Denmark need to win to finish first above Portugal, while Portugal can win or draw to top the group. There is also a slim chance that a Portugal defeat and win for Norway against Cyprus could see the Norwegians finish above Portugal in second, although the goal difference swing required looks prohibitive.
Playing against Spain, Scotland need to match or better the result achieved by Czech Republic against Lithuania to secure second place behind the reigning world and European champions.
