With Brazil expected to beat Ecuador in their final group game of the Copa America, the clash between Paraguay and Venezuela has been billed as a must-win tie.
And despite topping the group, after beating Ecuador and holding Brazil to a draw, Venezuela find themselves tipped as underdogs for the match.
bwin prices La Vintotinto as 4/1 outsiders to win the match, while Paraguay are priced as 7/10 favourites despite winning just one of their last five games.
Indeed, a 2-0 victory over Romania is the only time during that spell that Paraguay have not played to a draw, holding Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Brazil to stalemates.
By way of contrast, Venezeula have lost once, drawn once and won three of their matches over the same length of time. Prior to the win over Ecuador, Cesar Farais’ men drew with Brazil, beat Guatemala and Mexico and lost to World Cup winners Spain.
One reason for Paraguay being tipped as favourites is what – on paper at least – appears to be a superior squad.
In Lucas Barrios, Roque Santa Cruz and Nelson Valdez, boss Gerado Martino is able to call on some experiences international campaigners with an eye for goal.
As such, a number of football betting enthusiasts could be tempted to enter the first goal scorer market.
Borussia Dortmund forward Barrios is priced among the favourites to break the deadlock, with bwin offering odds of 4/1, while Santa Cruz is priced at 11/2 to achieve the same feat.
Meanwhile, Hercules’ Valdez, who has hit 12 goals in 50 appearances for Los Guaranies, is seen as a 9/2 bet.
Should Venezuela cause another upset and maintain their place at the top of Copa America Group B then it is likely to be down to the heroics of their own trinity of key players.
Daniel Arismendi is fancied at 9/1 to shock the crowd with an early goal, while Giancarlo Maldonado is priced at 8/1 to achieve the feat.
However, those looking for more impressive returns on their bets could be tempted by the 25/1 odds offered on Jose Manuel Rey.
It is likely to be the 36-year-old’s last chance at Copa America glory and the defender, who has 111 caps, will be looking to do all he can to boost his side’s chances.
