The second round of fixtures in Africa Cup of Nations Group B finds Zambia, Tunisia, Cape Verde and DR Congo locked in a tense stand-off and eyeing each other warily.
Two 1-1 draws in the opening games of the section have combined to create an itchy trigger-finger atmosphere, with all four sides knowing one false move could bring about their doom.
There is the potential to take a decisive step towards the quarter finals with victory, but overstretch on the offensive and it could be a case of death by counter attack.
As a result, few eyebrows would be raised if two more cagey draws were ultimately added to the Group B standings, a double which pays out at more than 8/1.
Meanwhile, even a 34/1 wager on a second brace of 1-1 stalemates is far from outlandish in the circumstances.
Read on for the supplementary reasoning…
Zambia v Tunisia to draw @ 21/10, to draw 1-1 @ 21/4
On the face of it the Carthage Eagles have to be favourites to triumph in the afternoon kick-off having topped their qualifying group undefeated.
Their opponents arrived in somewhat more moderate style as runners-up behind Cape Verde.
Yet both sides have a reliance on stout defences in common, boasting identical six goals for, two goals against records in reaching the finals.
Zambia’s last five games have ended either 1-1 or 1-0, while Tunisia have drawn four of their last six outings, with the last two ending 1-1.
Cape Verde v DR Congo to draw @ 2/1, to draw 1-1 @ 9/2
The pressure-o-meter could well be at deep-sea levels by the time the latter Group B tussle gets under way, with knowledge of the earlier result likely to play it’s part in dictating the kind of spectacle fans are treated to.
Both outfits struggled to convert their periods of domination into goals last time out and are expected to let each other off the hook with a lack of decisiveness again.
Between them the Blue Sharks and the Leopards have drawn four of their last six outings 1-1.
