Scott Parker will lead England out for tonight’s clash with the Netherlands at Wembley after being named captain by interim boss Stuart Pearce.
While it is unclear whether he will keep the job permanently, the accolade completes what has been a rollercoaster 12 months for the defensive midfielder.
He was the stand-out player in the West Ham team which limply fell into the Championship in 2010-11, his form earning him a £6 million move to Tottenham.
Parker has since been a pivotal part of Spurs’ impressive charge up the table, with his all-action, tireless and combative style endearing him to the White Hart Lane faithful.
The 31-year-old is rumoured to have beaten the likes of Steven Gerrard, Joe Hart and James Milner to the armband for the test against the Dutch.
But we want to know if you, the readers, believe Pearce has made the right call!
