Michal Bilek’s Czech Republic squad are priced at 53/20 to pick up four points from Euro 2012 Group A – and here’s why that looks to offer the best value when considering betting on their likely total.
In what is perhaps the weakest group of the tournament, Russia are clear favourites for first place and could well win each match they play.
If the Russians do indeed win all three matches, they would earn nine points and are given odds of 8/1 to do so by bwin.
That would open the door for the Czechs to qualify with just four points. They play Russia in their first match on Friday and are expected to lose against a side that has not lost in 14 games.
Next up will be Greece, before their final group game against co-hosts Poland. As long as the Republic win one of those two games and draw the other, it is mathematically impossible for Poland or Greece to earn more points, assuming Russia win all their matches.
They have lost on both their previous visits to Poland, while no Czech side has even scored against Greece in their four meetings. With Russia’s impressive form factored in, that makes an intriguing case for them losing every Group A game at odds of 12/1.
If that scenario plays out, then the only way the Czechs wouldn’t qualify with four points would be on goal difference. Either way, it is definitely worth considering a punt on the Republic to earn this exact tally from their three matches.
New customers can claim a free £25 bet and placing this on the Czech Republic to collect four points in Group A would return a cool £91.25 if successful.
On the other hand, an outside bet could be on Tomas Rosicky and company to finish with no points at all. Although the Czechs find themselves in a relatively easy group, they have poor records against two of their three upcoming opponents.
They have lost on both their previous visits to Poland, while no Czech side has even scored against Greece in their four meetings.
With Russia’s impressive form factored in, that makes an intriguing case for an alternative punt on the Czech Republic losing every Group A game at odds of 12/1.
Recommended bet: Czech Republic to get four points in Group A @ 53/20
Outside punt: Czech Republic to get zero points in Group A @ 12/1
