Euro 2020 winner odds: England slight favourites for final

England are slight favourites at 5/6 in bwin’s Euro 2020 winner odds after setting up a final date with Italy by edging out Denmark.

The Three Lions came from behind to prevail 2-1 in extra-time at Wembley, where they will return on Sunday night to face the Azzurri, who are 9/10 to lift the trophy.

Mikkel Damsgaard’s superb free-kick on the half-hour mark saw Jordan Pickford beaten for the first time at Euro 2020 but Simon Kjaer’s own goal soon levelled things up.

With 104 minutes played, Harry Kane had a penalty saved by Kasper Schmeichel but tucked away the rebound in front of 64,950 fans.

Gareth Southgate said: “We knew at some point we were going to concede and we would have to respond.

“Denmark have had an incredible tournament. I have got to give them huge credit. I thought they made it really difficult for us.

“They pressed us so well, scored a fabulous goal – the boy is a super player.

“But I think on the balance of play, when you look at the number of saves we forced the goalkeeper to make and long periods of the game where I felt we were the biggest threat, I think we deserved it.

“For our country, I’ve not heard this new Wembley like that ever and to be able to share that with everybody and share it with everybody at home is very special.”

England secured their place in a first major men’s final for 55 years and will now seek to add this silverware to their 1966 World Cup triumph.

“No team has done it since 1966, so to finally get this country where it deserves and to do it at Wembley is going to be something special,” defender Kyle Walker told BBC Radio 5Live.

“I can assure you that each and every one of us will give it our all to make sure we can knock that last door down.”

Italy shade Spain in shoot-out

In the first semi, Italy beat Spain on penalties and it is 11/2 there will be another shoot-out in the final in bwin’s Euro 2020 winner predictions.

Federico Chiesa curled home a sublime effort to put the Azzurri ahead but Alvaro Morata neatly finished off a fine team move to equalise for La Roja.

It stayed 1-1 after extra-time before Morata went from hero to zero as Gianluigi Donnarumma saved his spot-kick and former Chelsea team-mate Jorginho coolly clinched victory.

“We knew it was going to be a very tough match because in terms of ball possession, Spain are the best around,” said Italy boss Roberto Mancini.

“They caused us problems. We had to dig in when we needed to. We tried to score or create opportunities when we could.

“It was a very open match and, of course, there were some issues because we did not have too much possession.

“However, we wanted to make it into the final and we kept trying right until the end.”

The Azzurri stretched their unbeaten run to a jaw-dropping 33 matches and have impressed throughout this tournament.

“I thank the players because they believed right from day one that we could create something incredible,” added ex-Manchester City manager Mancini.

“We haven’t done everything we need to. There’s still one step to go. Now we have to rest up because this really was very challenging.”

Punters can get 1/3 for the final to be decided in regulation play and 4/1 for either side to win in extra-time.
