Celtic may be having a hard time keeping pace with Rangers in the SPL, but they should prove too strong for Hibernian in the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup tonight.
The Bhoys, 9/20 to win in 90 minutes, fielded a strong side in the previous round of the competition against a much weaker Ross County outfit and you can expect the nine-goal partnership of Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper to line up for the visitors at Easter Road.
Hibs, meanwhile, priced at 11/2, have seen off Berwick Rangers 5-0 and scraped through on penalties away to Motherwell en route to this tie. If you fancy the home side to nick another draw in 90 minutes in this fixture, it is available at 13/4.
Garry O’Connor has been on fire so far this season for Hibs and this, coupled with the attacking options of the Old Firm team, make the 29/20 for over 3.5 goals a very attractive proposition.
A bet on Celtic giving up a one-goal handicap but still emerging victorious would have meant a payout in the past three meetings between these sides and with this in mind, it would be difficult to ignore the 6/5 for the away side to overcome a one-goal deficit here.
Celtic have also taken the lead in the past five meetings between the two sides and gone on to win each of these games, making the 19/50 on the Lead-Win selection in the run of play market appear to be a banker.
Having said all that, the best bet could well be Celtic to be winning at both half-time and full-time.
Boasting superior strength in depth – despite an ever-lengthening injury list – a Celtic side with eight wins to Hibs’ sole victory in the past ten meetings look good to win the game in 90 minutes.
This statistic, paired with the fact that the Glasgow outfit have held the lead at half-time and gone on to win in four of the past five matches against the Hibees, makes the 11/10 on Celtic/Celtic in the half-time/full-time market seem extremely appealing.
A free £25 bet for punters joining bwin.com on Celtic to be in the lead at both the interval and the final whistle would give a return of £52.50 should the away side oblige.
