St Mirren could only manage a 0-0 draw against Hamilton Academical when they met in the Scottish Cup at St Mirren Park on January 7th, but this hasn’t stopped them from being installed as strong favourites to win this evening’s replay at New Douglas Park.
The Saints are priced at evens to progress to the next round after a win inside 90 minutes, with the draw priced at 9/4 and a home success available at 27/10.
They certainly look the best bets in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with the Accies – who ply their trade in the division below the SPL St Mirren – only managing three wins from their nine home First Division matches.
Meanwhile, St Mirren manager Danny Lennon is bullish about his team’s prospects on the back of their first leg display, in which they monopolised possession while restricting their opponents’ attacking chances.
However, recent results between the two sides suggest that, even though St Mirren are a top-flight team, there will not be too much between them at the end of the game.
A draw has been the result in five of the last eight meetings between St Mirren and the Accies, while only two of the last 12 games have featured a winning margin of more than a single goal.
With this in mind, odds of 27/10 on the Accies using a one-goal advantage in the handicap market to secure a draw look worth a punt.
Finally, it could also be worth betting on there being under 2.5 goals at odds of 3/4.
Hamilton have only scored four times and conceded twice in their last five games and only one of those matches has featured over 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, nine of the last 11 matches between St Mirren and Hamilton have featured fewer than three goals.
