After some exciting League Cup semi-finals last weekend, the last 16 of the Scottish FA Cup has some high expectations to live up to as Rangers face SPL opposition in Dundee United on a Saturday schedule featuring five ties in all, with Celtic’s trip to Raith Rovers providing the highlight of Sunday’s schedule.

Saturday, February 2nd
Dundee United v Rangers (12.45pm)
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 14/5
Key stat: Dundee United have just one win in eight games.
Betting tip: Rangers would normally have been clear favourites to win at Dundee United in the past, but the fallen giants now find themselves as long as 14/5 for their latest trip to Tannadice. They can take hope, however, from the fact that United are in bad form, while the Gers haven’t lost in 15 games in Division 3, winning 13 of them. A price of 87/100 on Rangers to avoid defeat will surely attract plenty of interest.
Dunfermline v Hamilton (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/20 Draw: 13/5 Away win: 17/5
Key stat: The last two meetings between these two at East End Park finished 1-1.
Betting tip: Although currently sitting third in Division 1, Dunfermline have lost their last two games, both at home. Therefore, don’t expect an easy victory as they welcome divisional rivals Hamilton. In that case, it could be worth backing yet another 1-1 result between these two in Fife, which is priced at 6/1 odds.
Falkirk v Forfar (3.00pm)
Home win: 1/2 Draw: 29/10 Away win: 17/4
Key stat: Forfar have lost four of their last five games.
Betting tip: When Forfar were drawn against opposition from the division above and away from home, they knew it would be a tough trip. After winning one and losing four of their last five, however, a passage to the next round seems even more unlikely now. Falkirk should win comfortably, which is why backing them to lead at half-time and full-time, at 6/5, makes a lot of sense.
Kilmarnock v Inverness (3.00pm)
Home win: 6/4 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 7/5
Key stat: Kilmarnock and Inverness have both scored in 19 of their last 20 games.
Betting tip: Whether winning or losing, these sides always seem to score a goal. That’s why a bet backing both teams to score should be a good punt this weekend at odds of 11/17.
St Mirren v St Johnstone (3.00pm)
Home win: 6/4 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 6/4
Key stat: St Johnstone have scored in the first half in their last three meetings against St Mirren.
Betting tip: With the away side enjoying good starts against the Buddies in recent meetings and taking the lead the last three times in the first period, backing St Johnstone to get off to another good start would be wise. They led 1-0 at half-time on their last two visits to St Mirren Park and are priced at 18/5 to take the same lead into the break this Saturday.
Sunday, February 3rd
Raith Rovers v Celtic (12.45pm)
Home win: 35/4 Draw: 5/1 Away win: 19/100
Key stat: In their last four matches, Celtic have scored 14 goals.
Betting tip: Against lower league opposition, this should be a comfortable win for Celtic. It could be worth backing over 3.5 goals in this match at the price of 13/10.
Dundee v Morton (3.00pm)
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 21/10
Key stat: The last two times Dundee have hosted Morton they lost 1-0.
Betting tip: Another 1-0 away win could be worth backing, especially at the hefty-looking price of 21/2.
Hibernian v Aberdeen (3.30pm)
Home win: 31/20 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 29/20
Key stat: Hibernian knocked Aberdeen out the cup last year with a 2-1 win.
Betting tip: Could Hibs taste a 2-1 victory over the Dons once again? The odds on them doing so are 17/2, which could be a nice little weekend bonus…
