Southend might be flying high at the top of the League Two table but Oxford’s home advantage should give them the edge in tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie at the Kassam Stadium.
The Shrimpers have won ten of their last 11 games, drawing the other, but they travel to meet an Oxford side who have won their last three encounters on home turf.
Indeed, the Yellows are undefeated so far this season at their own ground and with four wins and four draws from their eight games at the Kassam Stadium they have the seventh-best home record in the league.
Crucially, they have been ahead in all eight of these matches at half time, making them good bets in the half time/full time market as well as in the 3Way result market.
At odds of 13/5, a £25 free bet on an Oxford/Oxford result at half time/full time would return £90, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
In the 3Way market, Oxford are favourites to win the game at 6/5, with Southend priced at 37/20 to secure an away victory in normal time and the draw available at 23/10.
Nevertheless, Paul Sturrock will be confident of picking up a win, not least because Southend beat Oxford 2-1 at Roots Hall on Saturday to continue their excellent form.
But with home support behind them Oxford are a different proposition, and with both teams conceding fewer than one goal a game on average so far this season a slender 2-1 victory for Chris Wilder’s men would be welcome revenge for their recent reverse at Roots Hall.
This scoreline is available at odds of 31/4, making a successful £25 free bet worth £218.75.
