League Two strugglers Bradford are aiming for a second successive upset when they take on Sheffield United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Bramall Lane this evening.
The Bantams are just a point and two places above the League Two relegation zone but this did not stop them from getting past League One high flyers Huddersfield in the second round.
However, odds of 19/50 on a home win indicate lightening is unlikely to strike twice, as do those of 31/5 for an away win and 3/1 for the draw.
What Bradford fans can look forward to is a match with plenty of goals – and there’s a good chance they might grab at least one of them.
Bradford have scored just three goals in their last six games, yet with Sheffield United not keeping a clean sheet in any of their last nine matches the away side may have more luck this evening.
They could therefore be good bets to score a goal in the game at odds of 3/5, although the Blades can still be counted on to come out on top.
Also at 3/5, a bet on there being more than 2.5 goals in the game makes sense given this has been the case in six of Sheffield United’s last seven games.
United’s recent results include a 4-4 draw with Exeter and a 4-2 win over Preston, showing they are more than capable of hitting the back of the net.
But perhaps the best option would be to bet on Sheffield United easing to victory after a strong second half showing.
Danny Wilson’s side have scored 11 times between 61 and 75 minutes in the league, making this period more than twice as productive as any other segment of the match.
It is largely because of this concentrated scoring spree than more than two-thirds of the league goals scored by Sheffield United have come in the second half.
With this in mind, punters could choose to bet on the game being level at the break as Bradford grimly hang on before a second half surge sees United home and dry.
At odds of 7/2, a £25 free bet on a draw/Sheffield United result at half time/full time would return £112.50, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
