A bet on Blackpool to score at least twice when they take on Sheffield Wednesday looks to be the stand-out option ahead of the two teams’ FA Cup fourth round tie at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
The Tangerines have been on a good goalscoring run of late, finding the back of the net at least twice in five of their last six matches.
Included in this sequence are a 3-1 win over Barnsley, a 3-0 success over Middlesbrough and a 5-1 thrashing of Fleetwood in the FA Cup.
Crucially, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway’s team selection for the Fleetwood game also showed how seriously he is taking football’s oldest knock-out cup competition.
Only six teams have conceded more on their travels than the Owls in League 1 this season, with Bournemouth, Bury, Stevenage, Yeovil, Sheffield United, Carlisle and Walsall all scoring at least twice against the Steel City club.
Holloway resisted the temptation to rest some of his bigger names and was rewarded with an easy victory.
As such, he is unlikely to take Sheffield Wednesday lightly, even if the Owls ply their trade in the division below the Seasiders.
With a full-strength team, Blackpool look good to continue their excellent attacking form, particularly as Wednesday’s defensive record on the road does not inspire too much confidence.
Only six teams have conceded more on their travels than the Owls in League One this season, with Bournemouth, Bury, Stevenage, Yeovil, Sheffield United, Carlisle and Walsall all scoring at least twice against the Steel City club.
Wednesday also conceded three against Blackburn when they met in the League Cup in August.
With this in mind, 4/5 looks an excellent price for Blackpool to score over 1.5 goals on Saturday, with a £25 free bet on this outcome set to return £45.

It is also worth considering that almost a third of the goals let in by Wednesday have been conceded in the final 15 minutes of games.
Meanwhile, only two teams have scored more than Blackpool in the last 15 minutes of matches in the Championship.
Indeed, the Tangerines have scored five goals in the last 15 minutes of their last three matches alone – including both of their goals in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday.
Given this, Blackpool to score the last goal of the game looks well worth taking advantage of at 31/50.
Finally, it should be noted that Wednesday are no slouches in front of goal themselves – they have scored 50 goals in 27 league matches – while only Leeds have conceded more goals than Blackpool out of the teams in the top half of the Championship.
The game at Bloomfield Road could therefore be a high-scoring encounter, so back Blackpool to come through in a game with over 2.5 goals at 9/5.
This certainly looks a more attractive prospect than backing a Blackpool win at 87/100 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, where a draw is priced at 5/2 and a Wednesday success is at 3/1.
