Arsenal will be confident of progression to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the third time in five seasons this weekend as they welcome Championship side Blackburn Rovers to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have not lost an FA Cup tie to a side outside of the Premier League since losing to Sheffield United in the 1995/96 campaign and their recent form – just one defeat in their last six – suggests they will be far too strong for Michael Appleton’s Blackburn side on Saturday.
Rovers themselves have been in fine form of late, with three wins and two draws coming from Appleton’s first six games in charge at Ewood Park, but odds of 33/4 on an away victory show the struggles they are likely to face in London.
Arsenal are comfortable 7/25 favourites with the bwin bookies and a draw is priced at 9/2.
Here are five stats for this game that may just help you decide where to put your money.
4: The amount of times that Arsene Wenger’s side have led at half-time in the Premier League and have gone on to win. The Frenchman’s team are 67/100 to repeat that success against Rovers.
6: The number of times that Blackburn (2) and Arsenal (4) have seen over 2.5 goals in the first half of their league games. A repeat on Saturday is 14/5.
20: The number of goals that Blackburn forward Jordan Rhodes has scored this season, but only three times has the Scotland international scored more than once in a match. Rhodes is 2/1 to score on Saturday, but 23/2 to strike twice.
27: The number of goals Arsenal have scored in their past eight games against Blackburn, an average of 3.3 goals every match. Bwin is offering 17/20 on the home side to score three or more here.
2002: The year that Blackburn last won away to Arsenal in all competitions. The Gunners have won nine and drawn two of the 11 games since and 7/100 is available on Arsenal to advance to the next round.
