The Europa League takes centre stage in midweek and it’s fair to say the poor relation of continental club football has often been something of a graveyard for the casual punter down the years.
But following our success with Copenhagen, Lille and Panathinaikos last Saturday, we’re backing ourselves to find three top tip selections from Wednesday’s matches for our latest bwinbetting banker treble.
Rubin Kazan to beat Shamrock Rovers @ 11/100
Rubin Kazan come into this game full of confidence after a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their last home game in the Europa League.
The Russians will be keen to secure all three points against Shamrock Rovers too, with a win potentially sealing qualification for the knock-out stages. Rubin come into the game off the back of good recent form at home, having gone five games unbeaten, scoring nine goals in the process.
In contrast, Shamrock’s European fairytale is coming to an end, with the Irish side having been found consistently out of their depth in the Europa League. Rovers have conceded 11 goals in four group games so far, including a 3-0 defeat at home to Rubin Kazan earlier in the tournament.
Midfield maestro Christian Noboa was on the scoresheet for Rubin that day and with fellow goalscorer Gokdeniz Karadeniz also likely to feature, a trip to Russia could see Rovers suffer a heavy loss. With odds of 11/100 on Rubin winning, it’s not the most appealing selection, but it will definitely get the job done.
Metalist Kharkiv to beat Austria Vienna @ 53/100
Metalist Kharkiv have enjoyed a fantastic campaign in the Europa League so far this season, picking up three wins and a draw in their four group matches to date. The Ukrainian side have scored some memorably one-sided victories over the likes of Sochaux in qualifying and Swedish side Malmo, who they put seven past in their two meetings.
With qualification yet to be confirmed though, Kharkiv will be eager and confident of dispatching an Austria Vienna side that is enduring a difficult run in its domestic league at the moment.
The visitors have won just one of their last seven Austrian Bundesliga games and were previously dispatched 2-1 by Metalist in their own back yard earlier in the Europa League campaign.
Brazilian forward Taison has been in fine form for Kharkiv in the Europa League this season, with the 23-year-old grabbing a double in their last group game at home to Malmo.
He could add to that tally come Wednesday, with Austria Vienna’s players unlikely to be savouring a match in the bitter cold of the early Ukrainian winter.
AZ Alkmaar to beat Malmo @ 57/100
Qualification from the Europa League may not be yet assured for AZ Alkmaar but the Dutch side are likely to feel confident going into a visit to Group G whipping boys Malmo.
The Swedish team have yet to pick up a point in the Europa League this season and have conceded 13 goals in four games so far – the most of any team in the competition.
Domestically they remain some way off the pace too, trailing Helsingborgs by some nine points down in fourth.
AZ Alkmaar, meanwhile, come into the game as the current leaders of the Eredivisie, with four straight wins in a row and an unbeaten record that goes back to August.
Midfield dynamo Rasmus Elm has been at the heart of much of AZ’s positive play this season with eight league goals and a further three in Europe.
The Swedes were trounced 4-1 in Alkmaar and with nothing to play for here, the visitors should have more than enough in the tank to get the victory.
