Fulham get their Europa League proper campaign underway on Thursday against FC Twente of Holland.
And with both attack-minded teams suffering poor results at the weekend, I’m expecting a high-scoring draw at Craven Cottage, with a 2-2 scoreline looking particularly tempting at odds of 12/1.
After all, Fulham have already had two home draws so far this season and are yet to find their form under new manager Martin Jol.
They will be boosted by the fact they have never lost at home in Europe and beating Twente at odds of 11/10 would be just what the doctor ordered.
However, the Dutch outfit have an array of attacking talent at their disposal and took the Eredivisie title under Steve McClaren in 2010. They will not sit back and let the Cottagers play and seem well-priced at 5/2 for the win, while the draw is at 9/4.
Fulham made it all the way to the final in their last Europa League campaign and although they only earned a draw against Blackburn at the weekend, talismanic forward Bobby Zamora was on the scoresheet.
He netted eight times during the Cottagers’ glorious run in the 2009-10 season and is decently-priced at 5-1 to score the first goal tonight.
For Twente, giant Austrian striker Marc Janko is likely to be the main goal threat and with six Eredivisie goals already this season, it is easy to see why. He can be backed at 9/5 to score at any time.
