Fulham manager Martin Jol said he was “satisfied” with his side’s 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie with NK Split.
Nevertheless, the result was something of a shock considering the Lilywhites were 11/25 to win the match before kick-off and 1/100 to advance to the play-offs.
And Jol admitted that while he was content with a 0-0 draw away from home in a European tie, he said he was less pleased with the performance of his players.
The chief problem was tactical, Jol suggested, as Fulham found themselves unable to compete against NK Split’s unusual 5-2-3 formation.
Even so, Fulham are heavy favourites to beat NK Split at Craven Cottage this evening with odds of 9/50, with a draw priced at 19/4 and a win for the away side available at 21/2.
Meanwhile, Fulham are 3/20 favourites to advance to the next round, compared to the 15/4 odds available on Split to make it through.
One thing already working in Fulham’s favour is their defensive solidity, with just one goal conceded in their five Europa League games to date this season.
Furthermore, they have kept two clean sheets out of two at home, which suggests Split will have their work cut out to breach the Fulham backline.
With this in mind, the best bet might be on NK Split failing to score at odds of 11/20.
A £25 free bet on NK Split not scoring, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £38.75.
Additionally, Fulham have scored at least three goals in their two home Europa League ties this season, meaning a bet on there to be more than 2.5 goals in the match could also pay dividends.
