Atletico Madrid might be without Sergio Aguero this evening but they are still favourites to beat Europa League opponents Stromsgodset in bwin’s football betting market.
Aguero is set to join big-spending Manchester City in a deal worth close to £40 million, bringing an end to his five years at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.
However, Gregorio Manzano’s men are favourites for the first leg of their Europa League third-round tie against Stromsgodset even without their top-scorer from last season.
Odds on Atletico to beat Stromsgodset are 4/25 with bwin, while a win for the away side is priced at 21/2 and a draw at 21/4.
The Norwegian team have not played in the Europa League since 1999 and are yet to make it past the first round.
Atletico, by way of contrast, won the Europa League in 2010 and competed in the Champions League last season.
With this in mind, there is likely to be a significant gulf in class between the two sides and Atletico are already thinking about how many goals they will score rather than showing concern about the result.
“The objective is to win on Thursday against Stromsgodset with a good lead for the second leg,” midfielder Gabi told the club website.
With Atletico in such ruthless mood, the best bet could be on there to be more than 3.5 goals in the match, which is available at odds of 23/20.
A successful £25 free bet on this eventuality, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £53.75.
Alternatively, punters could bank on Atletico keeping a clean sheet and bet on the failure of either one of the teams to score in the match at odds of 7/10.
