With Aston Villa, Bradford City and Swansea City making it into the hat ahead of the Capital One Cup semi-final draw, the road appears to be clear for Chelsea to pick up the first available piece of major domestic silverware this season.
The Blues are odds-on favourites at 4/5 (1.8) to lift the trophy for the first time since 2007 despite the fact they still have to play their quarter-final.
Swansea, Aston Villa and Bradford all booked their places in the last four earlier this week.
But Chelsea’s involvement in the Club World Cup means their last-eight tie with Leeds is not due to be played until next Wednesday (December 19th).
It is the Swans who appear to be the chief rivals to Rafael Benitez’s outfit, with the Welsh side priced as 3/1 (4.0) second favourites to win the trophy for the first time in their history.
And in a season of cup shocks it could yet be worth siding with the Swans at Chelsea’s expense – after all, it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the Blues slipped up when they take on Leeds at Elland Road in less than a week’s time.
Leeds v Chelsea matches are always fiercely contested and after disposing of Everton in a home tie in the last 16, the Whites will be relishing the prospect of hosting the reigning European champions on their own patch.
Neil Warnock’s men are priced at 16/1 (17.0) to win the Capital One Cup, Aston Villa are available at 4/1 (5.0) and Bradford are outsiders at 25/1 (26.0).
