The Carling Cup is notorious for throwing up a bunch of surprise results, but these type of matches often come with a shed full of goals.
The first game on my radar for Tuesday night is Millwall v Morecambe. The League Two outfit beat Championship side Barnsley 2-0 in the first round of the competition, an impressive result away from home.
Since then they have won their last three league games, two away from home, scoring seven goals along the way. By the same token, Millwall will fancy their chances against lower league opposition and the Lions can realistically expect to improve upon their two-goal hauls in both of their opening two home fixtures. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 3/4.
The second potential goalfest is the clash at Carrow Road between Norwich and MK Dons.
The Canaries have scored in all but three of their home matches since the start of last season, notching more than once on 18 occasions. In that time, however, they have only kept five clean sheets. MK Dons have started their League One season well and shown that they pose a real attacking threat, scoring 11 times in four matches and firing four past Cheltenham in their last outing. Over 2.5 goals looks a certainty here, with bwin pricing it at 3/4.
Finally, we will go with Doncaster v Leeds United. Rovers have struggled in the Championship but they beat Tranmere 3-0 in the last round and Leeds’ attacking play gives their opposition plenty of chances. At the same time, four of Leeds’ five matches have produced four goals or more so far this season and they
have scored in seven of their last eight away matches. The over 2.5 goals selection for this spicy Yorkshire derby is available at 22/25.
Betting on these three matches to all produce over 2.5 goals will return at odds of 119/25. In other words, new customers who use the free £25 bet they receive on joining bwin.com to back these selections in a treble could pocket a return of £134.94.
