Rotherham to beat Sheffield Wednesday @ 7/4
Steve Evans’ newly promoted Rotherham head into this Yorkshire derby in good goalscoring form after a 3-3 opening day draw at Crewe Alexandra, whereas Wednesday couldn’t hold on at QPR at the weekend, and their small squad will struggle to cope with this competition. Evans was reunited with his former Crawley hot shot Matt Tubbs over the summer and he can fire the Millers to victory tonight.
Watford to beat Bristol Rovers @3/4
Watford look the best bet of the week at 3/4 to beat the League Two side after Rovers 2-1 loss at Exeter left them 52 places below Gianfranco Zola’s side in the football ladder. That gap looks unbridgeable and the Hornets strong showing at Birmingham – with Troy Deeney picking up where he left off last year amongst the goals – points to an easy win for the Championship side.
Rochdale and Doncaster Rovers to draw @ 12/5
Doncaster’s 3-1 home defeat against an unfanciedBlackpool side does not bode well for the season and Rochdale – who pulled off a faultless 3-0 win over Hartlepool in their opening fixture – can begin to emulate Bradford City’s efforts last year and take Paul Dickov’s side into extra time and beyond.
Peterborough United to beat Colchester @ 13/5
Both these sides kicked-off their campaigns with 1-0 wins and while Colchester’s away success at last year’s League Two Champions Gillingham may have been the more impressive, Darren Ferguson’sPosh will be a force in League One this year and should have too much firepower for Colchester here, with weekend match winning debutantBritt Assombalonga set to star again after his record breaking summer transfer from Watford.
