Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez reckons Cristiano Ronaldo is the best footballer he has ever played with and is glad to have the former Manchester United man as a team-mate.
Ronaldo opened the scoring last week as Los Blancos recorded an impressive 3-0 triumph over Galatasaray in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Bernabeu.
And Lopez, who looks set to continue in goal in the return leg in Istanbul despite the presence of fit-again Iker Casillas, is in no doubt about Ronaldo’s importance to the Spanish giants’ ambitions.
“Yes [Ronaldo is my best ever team-mate],” he said in an exclusive interview with bwin.
“I suffered a lot against him as a rival when I was at Villarreal and now I am here able to enjoy him in training and in matches.
“He is a player who really makes a difference, I would highlight the fact that he is always there in the important moments and that is where great players like him have to appear.”
Ronaldo will carry the charge for Real once again on Tuesday at the imposing Turk Telekom Arena after notching his 43rd goal of the campaign in Saturday’s 5-1 win over Levante in La Liga.
Most pundits have written off Galatasaray’s chances of causing an extraordinary upset but Lopez warned that the outcome of the tie is “not definite” and that Los Blancos will be targeting an away goal to seal their progress to the last four.
“We all know what football is like and we have to go to a difficult ground, so we have to be alert,” he added.
“It’s obvious that 3-0 is a very good result for us, I think the key is to score a goal there and that would assure our qualification.”
Real Madrid are 31/50 favourites to win on the night, with the draw available at 31/10 and Galatasaray installed as 15/4 outsiders, and you can place all your bets on the game right here.
