In recent years, fewer teams have become more acquainted in the Champions League than Real Madrid and Lyon.
This will be the tenth meeting between the sides since 2005, and although Lyon have – somewhat surprisingly – only been defeated twice in those games, it is hard to see past a victory for the Spanish giants tonight at odds of 57/100.
Real have scored 40 goals in all competitions already this season, with eight of those coming in the Champions League without reply.
Half of those were scored at the Bernabeu last time out, where they were imperious in their demolition of Lyon, who have won three and lost three of their last six outings.
The French side are therefore outsiders to win the match at 19/4 despite being the home team, with a draw priced at 29/10 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market.
With the win for Real at such a short price, the best bet could be on backing Jose Mourinho’s men to continue their run of Champions League victories without conceding at odds of 33/20.
A successful £25 free bet on Real Madrid to beat Lyon to nil would return £66.25, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
Alternatively, punters could look to the goalscorer markets for value.
Former Lyon forward Karim Benzema started the rout against L’OM at the Bernabeu, with further strikes from Sami Khedira, Sergio Ramos and an own goal from France’s number one Hugo Lloris showing that Los Blancos are capable of getting goals without relying purely on top scorers Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain.
As such, it could be worth looking past Ronaldo (7/2) and Higuain (4/1) and betting on Benzema to score at least twice on his old stomping ground this evening.
At odds of 5/1, a successful £25 free bet on Benzema to score at least twice against Lyon would return £150.
