The pressure is on Manchester United to earn maximum points from their away encounter with Otelul Galati on Tuesday after a sluggish start to their Champions League Group C campaign.
An away draw with Benfica was followed up by another draw against Basel at Old Trafford, leaving the Red Devils with only two points from two games.
This means they are four points off the top two spots held by Basel and Benfica and failure to beat Otelul in Romania would leave Sir Alex Ferguson’s men with a mountain to climb to qualify for the last 16, never mind top the group.
The good news for United is that Otelul have lost their opening two Group C fixtures and have also made a disappointing start to the defence of their domestic crown, with only three wins from their opening ten games.
As such, United are heavy 4/25 favourites for the victory, with a draw priced at 23/4 in bwin’s 3Way football betting market and an Otelul Galati success at 31/2.
Worryingly, Otelul have scored only two goals in their six home fixtures so far this season while conceding a goal a game on average.
United’s strength in Europe in recent campaigns has been their solid defence away from home, with their run to last season’s final helped by not conceding in 540 consecutive minutes of away action.
When this is coupled with Otelul’s lack of potency in front of goal, another away clean sheet for the Red Devils looks extremely likely, with this option available at 57/100.
And with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Nani in the squad and likely to start after being left out of the line-up to face Liverpool on Saturday, United are unlikely to be as toothless as Otelul going forward.
A significant win to nil could therefore be on the cards, with a 0-3 scoreline in favour of United looking the best option at 21/4.
A successful £25 free bet on Man Utd to win 3-0 would return £156.25, with the free bet available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account.
