Rangers are up against Swedish side Malmo in the first leg of their Champions League third-round qualification tie this evening, and bwin’s 3Way betting market suggests the reigning Scottish champions are heavy favourites to secure an advantage ahead of the second leg in Sweden.
Despite odds of 19/50 on a home win for the Gers, I’ve got a sneaky feeling that Malmo could escape with a draw, making a 2-2 scoreline a tempting long-shot at odds of 22/1.
Unconvinced? Well here are a couple of juicy facts which may make you think otherwise…
- Rangers have had a disastrous pre-season campaign and could only manage a 1-1 draw with Hearts at Ibrox in their opening SPL fixture on Saturday.
- Malmo are on a run of three drawn away games in a row, with their last being a 2-2 result against Helsingborgs.
- The Swedes are also likely to be better prepared than their hosts, given that they are slap bang in the middle of their domestic league campaign, increasing the chance of an upset.
Anyone tempted to have a punt could be swayed by the news that a £25 free bet on Rangers to draw 2-2 with Malmo, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return an impressive £575.
And to you, existing customers, I suggest that this scoreline must surely be worth a punt, with such lofty rewards on offer in exchange for such little risk…we shall see!
