It’s the second round of fixtures in Europe’s elite club competition and we’ve bundled some prime picks into a treble that pays over 20/1 to help you through the continental minefield.
Atletico Madrid to beat Porto @ 31/20
The Primeira Liga champions’ 2-2 draw at Estoril is the sole blot on their copybook this term, but they have yet to meet a side in the kind of blistering form Atleti have shown so far as the Spanish side have won their first seven La Liga matches in 2013/14.
Top scorer Diego Costa may be serving the second game of his European suspension, but that didn’t stop the Rojiblancos bagging three goals in his absence against Zenit St Petersburg in their opening Group G fixture and after beating bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last time out in La Liga, the Estadio do Dragao will hold no terrors for Diego Simeone’s men.
Basel to beat Schalke @ 29/20
Basel pulled off the shock result of the last round of fixtures when they condemned Jose Mourinho to just his second home defeat in two spells as Chelsea manager and the Swiss Super League-leaders come into this game after a much better start to the season than their opponents.
Schalke sit perilously close to the Bundesliga relegation zone with just eight points from their first seven league matches and against a side that has won eight of their last ten games at St Jakob-Park a turnaround in fortunes does not look on the cards.
Ajax v AC Milan – Draw @ 12/5
Ajax have been flattened 4-0 by both PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona in their last two away games, but got it together last time out in the Eredivisie when thrashing Go Ahead Eagles 6-0 at the Amsterdam Arena.
Milan have drawn three of their four away games in all competitions this season and considering Massimiliano Allegri’s charges took 82 minutes to get on the scoresheet against Celtic in the first round of Group H fixtures – courtesy of an own goal – they may lack the firepower to dominate the Dutch side and have to settle for another share of the spoils.
