This is my favourite part of the Champions League. In fact, this is my favourite part of any tournament … the latter stages of play.
Real Madrid take on Tottenham tonight and I really think that the north Londoners have to score an away goal in the Bernabeu to have a chance.
This Real side are a different proposition under Jose Mourinho and the fact that they can no longer win the league could really spur them on in this competition.
My prediction, unfortunately for Spurs fans, is either a 2-0 or a 3-0 home win and that would come close to eliminating Tottenham.
I think Harry Redknapp’s men need to avoid conceding an early goal at all costs tonight because if Real Madrid break through in the opening stages then it could get ugly.
Tottenham are not playing well at the moment and although Madrid lost at home at the weekend to Sporting Gijon, how much would you put on lightning striking twice?
It is about time Real went really deep in this competition and I cannot see anything other than a Real Madrid vs Barcelona semi-final.
I also fancy Chelsea to get the better of Manchester United tomorrow. I still do not think that United are playing well enough to win this competition.
They conceded two goals at Upton Park and for me they will be league champions, but only because of Chelsea’s horrible mid-season blip.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs are not title-winning sides yet and so United have slipped in on the blind side and will likely win the title now.
I also think that Inter will edge Schalke and what a semi-final line up that would be … Chelsea vs Inter Milan and Barcelona vs Real Madrid.
