Reports are surfacing that Chelsea are looking to sign the latest superstar to emerge from the Benfica talent factory, Anderson Talisca.
The Blues are in the city where the Brazilian currently resides, Lisbon, to face Sporting in the Champions League – a game they can be backed at 4/5 to win – but if you believe everything you read in the Daily Star his tenure in the Portuguese capital may last just one season.
As Aguias only plucked Talisca from his hometown club Bahia in the most recent transfer window, paying £3m for his services, but on account of his especially impressive start to life in the Primeira Liga, the Blues are heading up the interested parties.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the 20-year-old who has struck five times in six for the Portuguese champions this term, stating:
“I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only unknown because he’s only not playing in England, as he doesn’t have a work permit. If he had one, he would be here.”
For the unaware masses the Special One refers to, we’ve got the 411 on the Brazilian hotshot.
Much like Eden Hazard, Talisca is a left-footed winger who likes to cut inside.
The Belgian, however, is deployed most commonly on the corresponding flank.
Bahia’s favourite son prefers to come in from the right to take aim at goal at the first opportunity.
Most unlike Hazard, he’s not the best dribbler.
Quite gangly, the youngster lacks the low centre of gravity that allows Chelsea’s resident wing wizard to breeze past opponents.
He instead relies on raw power, much like Yaya Toure, to advance beyond adversaries.
Although, as his goal record indicates, Talisca’s first thought once past a player is to open fire, as opposed to make an assist, which makes him an exciting addition to any attack.
