The first set of Champions League quarter-finals get underway tonight, with Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid arguably the most enticing fixture.
Barca and Atleti have won the last three La Liga titles between them and encounters between the two have always been tight in that time period.
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich host Benfica and the Bundesliga champions are overwhelming 1/5 favourites for the match.
However, the Eagles’ performances in Europe this season show they do well against seemingly invincible sides.
Barcelona to beat Atletico 2-1 @ 15/2
All of the last five clashes between the two have seen Barca emerge victorious by a single goal.
Before that, seven out of eight meetings were either drawn or settled by a solitary strike, with five of those games ending level.
Clearly, there is not a lot to choose between the top two teams in Spain, but Luis Enrique’s men are currently on a six-game winning streak against Atleti.
The last two encounters between the pair ended 2-1 in the Catalonians’ favour and, given how close matches between the two are, it would be sensible to expect the same scoreline this time round.
Benfica to score against Bayern @ 23/20
Speaking of Atletico, only one team has managed to score against them in the Champions League this season.
That side is Benfica, who beat them 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon, the Madrid side’s only loss in Europe this term, while also managing to find the net in a 2-1 defeat in Portugal.
The Eagles will be hoping their ability to break down even the most steely defence will help them against Bayern.
However, Pep Guardiola’s men have won 32 of their 41 games across all competitions this season, only conceding 13 league goals in 28 outings, and this dominance means the Portuguese outfit are unlikely to get more than a goal.
