Sunday’s Confederations Cup final in Saint Petersburg promises to be a cracking contest and we’ve asked the bwin blog editors for their expert Chile vs Germany predictions.

These teams drew 1-1 during the group stage and came through contrasting semis, with La Roja beating Portugal on penalties and Die Mannschaft crushing Mexico 4-1.

Opinions will be varied on how this clash of styles will play out in the decider and that is reflected in our Confederations Cup final betting tips.

STUART WALKER – Timo Werner to score and Germany to win @ 7/2

The Stuttgart starlet is staking a claim to be Germany’s leading striker at the 2018 World Cup with some impressive performances in Russia.

Werner is the joint-leading scorer in the tournament with three goals, with Joachim Low’s side having had little trouble in advancing to the final. The only time they failed to win came against Sunday’s opponents in the group stage.

Despite leaving many of their star players at home, Germany have scored 11 goals to Chile’s four and I see them having just too much for the South Americans, despite the presence of Alexis Sanchez.

ANDREW MCDERMOTT – 1-1 after 90 minutes @ 21/4

Chile have won just one match in 90 minutes at the Confederations Cup yet find themselves in the final thanks to their penalty prowess, having also won successive Copa America deciders via shootouts.

They’ll back themselves if it goes to extra time or penalties, especially having had an extra day of rest compared to Germany.

There looks little to choose between these two teams with Germany not at full strength, and I fancy a repeat of the 1-1 draw between them during the group stage.

TONY KELSHAW – Chile to win 1-0 @ 31/4

Germany have impressed with their free-flowing football but Chile are an incredibly tough team to break down when it comes to the business end of a tournament.

La Roja kept three clean sheets in the knockout rounds of last year’s Copa America and only conceded once during that stage when also successful in 2015.

Having beaten Argentina on penalties in both finals after goalless draws, they did the same to Portugal on Wednesday.

Obviously, relying on spot-kicks to see off Germany might not be the shrewdest move, so I’m backing Chile to edge ahead and then batten down the hatches.
