Kick-off: 1930 EDT, 18/06/2022

Stadium: Saputo Stadium

TV: TVA Sports/ESPN+

Goals should be on the cards when Montreal and Austin meet for the first time in the MLS this weekend.

Twelve of Montreal’s last 13 matches in this competition have involved goals at both ends and that’s been the case in Austin’s previous four, although their record stands at six in a row on the road, all of which produced a winner.

With that in mind, both teams to score and either team to win at 2.15 is our opening CF Montreal vs Austin FC prediction.

CF Montreal Odds

Montreal are going well in the Western Conference, although they snapped a two-match losing run by defeating Cincinnati 4-3 for the second time this season in the last game before the international break.

As in the first match, Montreal trailed to a 12th-minute opener but Joel Waterman equalised before Romell Quioto and Mathieu Choiniere struck either side of half-time to put the hosts in control, only for Alvaro Barreal to reduce the arrears.

Quioto gave the hosts some breathing space with his second of the game from the penalty spot just before the hour-mark, but still had to sweat for the win when Barreal struck soon after.

That was the second successive Montreal match in which a team had won from behind, so we’re drawn towards the run of play market, especially as we expect goals on Saturday.

Lead-Lose at 6.0 in the CF Montreal vs Austin FC odds catches the eye, bearing in mind the Canadians have scored and conceded in all six home games this season.

Austin FC Odds

Austin are enjoying an excellent second season in MLS under head coach Josh Wolff, who recently signed a new three-year contract.

The Verde and Blacks finished second from bottom in their debut campaign in the Western Conference but are riding high in fourth this time around, although they lost 4-1 to LA Galaxy last time out.

Incidentally, Austin took the lead in that game to make it four out of five away games in which a team has lost from a winning position, just to emphasise our above tip in the Montreal odds.

Austin also lost 4-1 to Mexican side Pachuca in a friendly last weekend, when Sebastian Driussi scored the only goal for the home team from the penalty spot just after the break.

We’re not looking too deeply into that match and with Wolff’s side having taken the lead in the first half in their last three games on the road, they can be backed at 3.0 to extend that run as the last of our CF Montreal vs Austin FC betting tips.
