Barcelona are on the brink of Champions League elimination and Bayern Munich can seal their fate on Wednesday night.

Barca’s faint hopes of reaching the last 16 may be over by the time they take to the field, depending on the result in the earlier game between Inter Milan and Viktoria Plzen.

Even if that goes their way, Barca’s record in this fixture makes grim reading and an away win at 7/4 is our opening Barcelona vs Bayern Munich prediction.

Barcelona Odds

Barcelona somehow found the money to make some big-name signings in the summer but once again they look set to drop into the Europa League.

Back-to-back away defeats at Bayern and Inter left them in third place in the group and they needed an injury-time equaliser from Robert Lewandowski to rescue a 3-3 draw with Inter two weeks ago which kept their faint hopes alive.

Lewandowski is the joint-top scorer in the competition after four rounds of group matches so the Polish striker cannot be blamed for the problems facing Barca.

He will be keen to impress against his former team too but Barca have lost their last five meetings with Bayern, conceding 19 goals in the process.

Looking at the 6/4 for over 2.5 goals and Bayern to avoid defeat.

Bayern Munich Odds

Bayern have been as efficient as always in qualifying for the round of 16 and four wins out of four mean they are already through.

If Inter beat Viktoria Plzen as expected, top spot will not yet be secure though so Bayern have plenty of motivation to maintain the form which has seen them win their last four matches in all competitions.

After the 4-2 win in Plzen a fortnight ago, Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann said: “We’ve got 12 points from four games in the toughest group and we’re into the round of 16. Now we want to top the group.”

Bayern were 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture thanks to two goals in the space of five minutes from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane early in the second half.

Both players have since picked up injuries which will rule them out so Bayern may not quite be at their best but we still think they have the quality to come out on top, especially if Barca’s heads have dropped.

For the last of our Barcelona vs Bayern Munich betting tips, let’s back the visitors to win by exactly one goal at 19/5.
