Kick-off: 1230, 01/08/2020

Stadium: Pittodrie

TV: Sky Sports

The new Scottish Premiership campaign kicks off with an intriguing clash, as last season’s runners-up Rangers travel to fourth-placed Aberdeen.

Pittodrie has proved a tough place to visit for the Light Blues, who have only picked up one win from their last five trips to this venue.

However, Steven Gerrard’s men have been in superb form in pre-season friendlies, beating Lyon and Nice among four straight victories, with 10 goals scored and none conceded.

We like 6/5 for the visitors to lead at half-time and full-time as our first Aberdeen vs Rangers prediction.

A Look At Aberdeen’s Betting Odds

Aberdeen’s form was patchy prior to last term being cut short, but they did sign off with a nice defeat of Hibs, coming from behind to prevail 3-1.

Derek McInnes will be hoping to get back into the top three after following four runners-up spots on the trot with consecutive fourth-place efforts.

Continuity has been seen as the key to success, with some long-term contracts handed out to avoid another summer exodus.

Such pay-outs have limited their options in the transfer market, but getting Jonny Hayes back from Celtic was a big bonus.

Star striker Sam Cosgrove has been linked with a move south to England, but can hopefully help the Dons to hit the ground running first.

It was 2-2 when these teams met here last season and Aberdeen may again have their moments.

However, preference is still for an away win and both teams to score at 21/10 from the Aberdeen vs Rangers odds.

A Look At Rangers’ Betting Odds

Rangers were well placed to challenge Celtic for top spot last term following five straight wins over the Festive period.

However, they only won four of their final nine league games to end up lagging behind the Hoops once more.

Beating the likes of Feyenoord, Porto and Braga in the Europa League highlighted the potential in this team, though.

Gerrard is clearly intent on making a fast start this time around, relying on a very settled first team during an impressive pre-season.

The future of Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos remains in doubt and the feeling is that Gerrard still needs reinforcements to stop Celtic from making it 10 in a row.

Completing a permanent move for Ianis Hagi is a step in the right direction, though, with the Romania international scoring three goals in 12 games on loan last term.

Joe Aribo has been touted as another player to watch out for this season and 15/2 for a 2-1 away win completes our Aberdeen vs Rangers betting tips.
