Bundesliga odds: Bayer Leverkusen now clear favourites after Bayern Munich loss

Bayer Leverkusen are now the clear favourites to win the Bundesliga come the end of the season after back-to-back losses for Bayern Munich in Germany’s top flight.

Bayern Munich lost 3-2 to Bochum at the weekend, following a 3-0 loss to Leverkusen last week. As a result, Thomas Tuchel’s side find themselves eight points behind the league leaders, with both teams having played 22 games

With just 12 games between now and the end of the season, the bookies clearly think that Bayern don’t have enough to catch Leverkusen, who haven’t lost a game in the Bundesliga this year, so are tipping Xabi Alonso’s team to win the title come the end of the season.

Bundesliga odds

At the time of writing, Bayer Leverkusen have played 22 games in the Bundesliga, winning 18 of them. Alonso’s side have drawn their four remaining fixtures, meaning they’re currently unbeaten in domestic club football.

That’s not all though, as Leverkusen haven’t actually lost a game in any competition this season. They’ve reached the knockout stage of the Europa League, as well as progressing to the DFB-Pokal semi-final after beating Stuttgart on February 6.

The same cannot be said for Bayern Munich though, who have been incredibly disappointed in the DFB-Pokal, where they were knocked out by third-round side Saarbrucken, as well as the Champions League and the Bundesliga.

Bayern have lost each of their last three games in all competitions, including a 3-0 loss to Leverkusen last weekend, a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lazio in the Champions League, and a 3-2 loss to Bochum most recently in the Bundesliga.

As a result of their back-to-back league losses, the first of which came to Alonso’s side, Bayern find themselves eight points behind Leverkusen, with the majority of the season now in the books.

Tuchel’s side have drawn two fewer games than Leverkusen, but the game between the two sides comes from the fact that Die Werkself have won two more games, and lost four fewer.

So, where does that leave us in terms of the Bundesliga odds? Well, Bayer Leverkusen are currently 4/25 to win the Bundesliga this season, so they’re seen by the bookies are the undisputed favourites. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, are at 7/2.

  • Bayer Leverkusen – 4/25
  • Bayern Munich – 87.5/25
  • Stuttgart – 12,500/25

For what it’s worth, Bayern also saw themselves drop from second to fourth-favourites in the Champions League betting after their 1-0 loss in the first-leg of their first knockout round to Lazio last week.
