Stadium: Amsterdam ArenA

Ajax and Lyon came through incredibly tight Europa League quarter-finals and there isn’t expected to be too much between these teams when they meet in the semis.

There were no goals scored in either match when they clashed in the Champions League group stage five seasons ago but both have been putting more emphasis on attack this term.

Amsterdam ArenA will be rocking for the first leg and 3/2 for a home win gets the nod in our Ajax vs Lyon betting tips.

A Look At Ajax’s Betting Odds

Ajax have claimed six straight home wins in this competition, with 21-year-old goalkeeper Andre Onana yet to concede a goal here during the knockout stages.

This is a very young team but few will doubt their resilience after an extra-time success at Schalke in the quarter-finals, with the visitors losing 2-0 in 90 minutes but then outscoring their opponents in the additional half-an-hour, despite being down to 10 men.

The experience of competing in a domestic Eredivisie title race with Feyenoord and PSV will also stand them in good stead at the business end of this competition.

A Look At Lyon’s Betting Odds

Lyon will have fond memories of their last encounter with Dutch opponents after hammering AZ Alkmaar 11-2 on aggregate in the first knockout round, including a 4-1 triumph in Holland.

However, they have since looked a bit more fragile away from home when losing 2-1 on the road to Roma and Besiktas, with penalties eventually needed for them to see off the Turkish team.

Domestically, they have also tasted defeat seven times on their travels in France’s Ligue 1 and, despite boasting plenty of attacking talent, we feel they are worth taking on in Amsterdam.

With regards the Ajax vs Lyons odds to reach the final, the Dutch side are slight underdogs at 6/5 and the French team favoured at 3/5.
