Molde vs Hibs: Hosts to now have the edge in Norway

Kick-off: 1800, 16/08/2018

Stadium: Molde Stadion

Molde have been impressive at home this season and Hibs face a tough test when visiting Norway for Thursday’s Europa League second-leg tie.

Last week’s goalless draw at Easter Road was not the worst result in the world for the Edinburgh outfit, but we still feel they are now up against it.

Punters can get 3/4 for the hosts to come out on top and that is a percentage pick for our opening Molde vs Hibs prediction.

A Look At Molde’s Betting Odds

Molde had to soak up plenty of pressure in Scotland but were largely comfortable in the final half an hour as Hibs seemed to become more wary of the consequences of losing an away goal.

Visiting manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was without a key player following a major offer for Erling Braut Haland, who was left out to ponder a move to Salzburg.

However, the 18-year-old striker, who has also been linked with Manchester United, returned to action when scoring an early penalty in Sunday’s superb 5-1 demolition of domestic table toppers Brann.

That made it eight goals in six club games for the much-vaunted teenager, before further strikes from Pawel Cibicki, Fredrik Aursnes (2) and Kristoffer Haugen completed the rout.

Molde have now won eight of their 10 Tippeligaen fixtures at this venue, as well as claiming two Europa League victories by an aggregate of 8-1.

Looking at the Molde vs Hibs odds, we’re snapping up 19/10 for a home victory and over 2.5 goals in the match.

A Look At Hibernian’s Betting Odds

Hibs did have the better of things for much of the first leg, with Stevie Mallan denied by the crossbar and some decent saves, while Martin Boyle and David Gray came close to breaking the deadlock.

Emerson Hyndman also had the chance of a late winner after making his debut off the bench following a loan move from Bournemouth.

Neil Lennon felt his team “played very maturely and were unlucky”, so he is still hopeful of advancing.

The Hibs boss commented: “There was not a lot of clear-cut chances and Molde are very good in possession and knew how to take the sting out of the game, but we are still in the tie.

“We have to score over there but Molde have to score too – 0-0 can be a positive or a negative. But we looked like the team most likely to score.”

Hibs could still be a threat going forward, but this is the kind of occasion when they will miss Scotland midfielder John McGinn following his big-money move to Aston Villa.

We’re adding 14/1 for a 3-1 home win to our Molde vs Hibs betting tips.
