Chelsea vs Burnley: Blues defence to dominate

Kick-off: 1500, 06/11/2021

Stadium: Stamford Bridge

Burnley finally recorded their first win of the season last weekend but face a tough task to maintain the momentum on Saturday.

The Clarets remain in the relegation zone despite beating Brentford and now head to Stamford Bridge to face leaders Chelsea.

The European champions are 4/5 to win to nil but with Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner still absent, we’re not expecting a rout.

Taking 135/100 for a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 home win looks worth the extra risk for our first Chelsea vs Burnley prediction and would have paid out in four of the five wins in which the Blues have kept a clean sheet.

A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds

Chelsea enjoyed a dream weekend last week as they opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table and they are now the second favourites in the Premier League winner odds.

The Blues enjoyed a 3-0 win at Newcastle while Manchester City and Liverpool surprisingly dropped points at home and they will be sitting pretty at the summit during the international break if they can beat Burnley for a fifth successive meeting.

A 1-0 victory at Malmo in the Champions League in midweek was a fifth clean sheet in six matches in all competitions and Chelsea’s defenders are also contributing at the other end of the pitch.

Reece James set them on the way to victory at Newcastle with a brace and was also on target in the recent thrashing of Norwich.

Fellow wing-back Ben Chilwell is also in fine form with three goals since the start of October plus one for England and can be backed to add to his tally at 10/3 in the Chelsea vs Burnley odds.

Last Chelsea line-up: Mendy, Rudiger, Alonso, Christensen, Silva, Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Loftus-Cheek, Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi.

Mason Mount could still feature despite struggling with infected wisdom teeth. Marcos Alonso will miss out with an ankle problem, but Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante should be in action. Mateo Kovacic is still sidelined.

A Look At Burnley’s Betting Odds

Burnley’s confidence will have been boosted by beating Brentford 3-1 at Turf Moor but a trip to Stamford Bridge is a much tougher test.

The hosts netted three times without reply in the first half, with Chris Wood lashing in an early opener before Matt Lowton added a header in the 32nd minute and Maxwel Cornet then struck to make it 3-0 four minutes later.

Brentford substitute Saman Ghoddos pulled a goal back with 11 minutes of normal time remaining but Burnley held on to take maximum points for the first time in 10 league outings this season and 13 including the end of last term.

They are unbeaten this season against teams in the bottom half of the table but it has been a different story against the top-half teams, losing five out of five.

Their trips to Liverpool and Manchester City ended in 2-0 defeats and in both games they were 1-0 down at the break, as they were in the two meetings with Chelsea last season.

Let’s back the Blues to be leading 1-0 at half-time once again at 11/5 as the last of our Chelsea vs Burnley betting tips.

Last Burnley line-up: Pope, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Mee, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, McNeil, Westwood, Wood, Cornet.

Burnley winger Aaron Lennon is a doubt due to a bout of illness. Dale Stephens is still not yet ready to make his first-team return after injury.
